Masuma’s story
In 2022, Masuma arrived in New Zealand after fleeing her home country, Afghanistan.
After studying to learn English and get her university entrance, Masuma was incredibly excited to start her degree at the University of Auckland.
Masuma was juggling study, work, and caring for her mum. She was struggling financially and struggling with the intensity of studying in a new country.
Thankfully, she applied for and received the Scholarship for Students from Refugee Backgrounds. Now, she can afford textbooks, food, and other basic study necessities.
